Adding and Managing Your Support Team
Your Support Team is made up of the people you trust to walk alongside you during your pet’s journey. This might include your veterinarian, a companion animal doula, trainer, or other care provider.
Hospet makes it easy to invite and manage the people who support you, giving you full control over what’s shared and when.
🤝 Who Can Be on Your Support Team?
Support Team members are generally professional care providers or specialists such as:
- Veterinarians or clinic staff
- Companion animal doulas
- Groomers or behaviorists
- Specialty providers (oncologists, rehab therapists, etc.)
If you’re looking to share updates with friends or family, you can still add them as a support team member and manually email your pet's assessments, records or event data with them, or if you prefer, you can invite them to your account so that they can enter data themselves.
➕ Adding a Hospet Connect Provider
If your provider uses Hospet Connect, they’ll give you a referral link, code, or QR code. This creates a secure, synced connection that allows you to automatically share pet data through their provider dashboard.
📥 Ways to Add a Hospet Connect Provider
You can add them by:
- Clicking their referral link
- Entering their code via the “Import From Referral Code” button on the Support Team page
- Scanning their QR code via the “Import from QR Code” button in the iOS or Android app
These actions take you to an Import Provider page where you can:
- Fill in any additional details
- Choose whether to automatically share your pet’s data
- Click “Import Support Team Provider” to complete the process
✅ How Do You Know It Worked?
If successful, you’ll see a “Synced with Provider” badge next to their name in your Support Team list. This means they’ll now be able to view your shared pet data from their provider dashboard.
🛠 Adding a Provider Manually (Non-Hospet Connect)
If your provider doesn’t yet use Hospet Connect, you can still add them manually.
🔧 How to Add a Support Team Provider Manually
Go to Support Teams in the main menu
Click “New Support Team Provider”
Enter the following:
- Name and Email (required)
- Optional Internal Label (e.g., “Surgery Dept.” or “After-Hours Vet”)
- Optional Primary Provider (to specify a particular contact person, e.g., “Dr. Lopez”)
Once added, they’ll appear in your Support Team list.
✉️ What You Can Share Manually
These providers won’t have access to your pet's data automatically but you can email them individual items, including:
- Specific Records
- Quality of Life Assessments
- End of Life Care Plan
- Notable Events
You control what gets sent and when.
🔐 Note: To enable automatic data sharing, you’ll need to sync the provider using their referral link, referral code, or QR code.
🔒 Sharing & Privacy Settings
- All sharing is opt-in—you decide whether to share data when importing a provider.
- You can stop sharing at any time by removing the provider from your Support Team.
- For Events and Records, you can mark individual entries as Private. These will not be visible to your provider, even if automatic sharing is enabled.
🧹 Removing Someone from Your Support Team
You can remove any Support Team provider at any time:
- Go to Support Teams
- Click the Trash icon next to the provider's name
